The Grand Hotel, Tynemouth
Grand Parade
North Shields, NE30 4ER
The Grand Hotel is a coastal based Newcastle hotel located in Tynemouth. The Grand would be considered one of the better coastal hotels Newcastle upon Tyne has to offer.
The Grand boosts good sized rooms that are kept clean and tidy daily including the bathrooms which are cleaned to a high standard. Although the decor may appear a little dated when compared with some newer luxury hotels based around the region, The Grand is situated on the cliffs of the North East coastline and offers some of the best sea views and a rich hertigate dating as far back as 1872, when it was constructed for the then Duchess of Northumberland.
With 44 guest rooms and a full serving a la carte restaurant as well as wedding and conference facilities The Grand Hotel Tynemouth is a good choice for those looking for coastal hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne.
With reasonable rates on rooms, weddings and conferences however it is advisable to check fairly early on the availability of the hotel to avoid any dissappointment.

Malmasion Hotel, Newcastle
Newcastle Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 3DX
The Malmasion Hotel Newcastle is one of the various luxury hotels located around the city of Newcastle.
With an impressive quayside location, over looking the River Tyne, The Baltic Art Centre & the Millenium Bridge, the Malmaison Newcastle offers individuals luxurious standards in a central location.
The position of the hotel is ideal for walking to the city centre but far enough way from the hussle and bussle of the infamous Quayside bars and restaurants.
With an impressive 122 luxury rooms the Malmasion is
one of the most luxurious hotels Newcastle upon Tyne has to offer but given the room rates it may be advisable to look around the other luxury hotels in Newcastle before booking.
However, if luxury is an necessity and cost is not an issue, we would highly recommend the HMS Ark Royal suite. Located on the top floor of the Mal. The HMS Ark Royal comes complete with a large four poster bed and two baths located side by side; making it perfect for any romantic getaway.

The Townhouse Hotel Gosforth
1 West Avenue, Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE3 4ES
The Townhouse Hotel is one of Newcastle's hidden gems. Tucked away in a small part of Newcastle, The Townhouse Hotel Gosforth, is one of the nicest hotels the team has stayed at yet.
As a small hotel, The Townhouse offers guests a quiet peaceful getaway from the hussle and bussle of the City Centre, yet close enough to pop in for a bite to eat or drink. However, this is not even needed with a stay here. With an affiliation to one of Gosforth's fine eateries known as Adrianos Restaurant and the hotel's own cafe serving homemade products, The Townhouse is well equipped for business and lesiures guests alike to eat and enjoy the tranquilty of this leafy suburb.
As with all boutique hotels, there is often the grey-area of price per night though; but at The Townhouse the room rates are reasonable and offer an what appears to be unparralled level of comfort and luxury, making The Townhouse Hotel one of - we feel - the best Hotels Newcastle upon Tyne has to offer.

The Grey Street Hotel, Newcastle
2 - 12 Grey Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 6EE
The Grey Street Hotel is Niche Hotels Newcastle upon Tyne luxury hotel offering. As a centrally located boutique hotel located on the picturesque Grey Street, it offers one of the most central locations for visitors to the city centre.
As a modern hotel, the Grey Street Hotel Newcastle has a contemporary feel and offers mix of 'neo-class' fixtures and hi-tech features notably the plasma tvs, internet access and the music library (available from recepetion however, but worth the ask as it is free-to-use). However, as a city center based hotel the corridors are a little bit small than other hotels and may be a slight worry for those with claustrophobia.
In addition to the standard features you would expect with a luxury style hotel, The Grey Street Hotel offers some quirky features for guests including its pet friendly ethos providing dog biscuits and beds for guests with pets.
If you are staying at the hotel there are some nice restauarants both on Grey Street itself and further down on Dean Street and if you don't wish to travel far the Living Room (next door to the Grey Street Hotel) offers reasonable and tasty food.

Copthorne Hotel Newcastle
The Close, Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 3RT
The Copthorne Hotel Newcastle is situated on the banks of the River Tyne on the infamous Newcastle Quayside overlooking the bridges.
As The Copthorne Newcastle is part of the Millenium Hotels group, you do get the sense of similarity with other hotels in the group but this is definitely outweighed by the high levels of service offered by all of the staff at the Copthorne.
With high quality rooms and some reasonable discounts to be had if you book online the Copthorne is perfect for those staying a number of nights or in Newcastle for business activites and the hotel restuarant / bar known as Quay 7 offers fantastic food and cocktails for guests to sample.
One feature that guests (and the Hotels Newcastle upon Tyne review team) also get to enjoy is that of the hotels 14m swimming pool, sauna, spa and gym!

Hotel Du Vin, Newcastle
Allan House, City Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 2BE
Although part of the same family, Hotel Du Vin is located slightly further east than the Malmaison Hotel Newcastle and as such is slightly further out of the city centre at the former site of the old Tyne Tees Steam Company building,
However, the hotel is still fully accesible by foot and is in close proxmity of the city's 'Quaylink' electric buses which operate as frequently as every 10 minutes from very close to the Hotel's entrance.
Hotel Du Vin, Newcastle like the Malmaison offers a number of high quality guest rooms named as Hotel Du Vin suggests after various types of wine.
In total there are 42 individual rooms charged at a range of tariffs depending on the guests requirements and of course price range.
The Hotels Newcastle upon Tyne team only stayed in a standard & cheapest room available which was charged at the time of stay at £160.00 per night however this did include breakfast.
One factor we would highlight though as part of the breakfast package is that for only a few pound more on the morning, you can opt for a cooked full english breakfast rather than the more continental buffet style breakfast you recieve as standard.
The Hotels Newcastle upon Tyne team's room was located to the rear of the hotel so unfortunately did not benefit from some of the fantastic views of the Baltic Art Gallery & The Sage Gateshead Music & Conference Venue on the banks of the River Tyne.
With helpful and friendly staff, average rates & luxury rooms individuals would be hard pressed to find another boutique hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne (outside of the Malmaison chain) in such a scenic and peaceful yet central location as is the case with Hotel Du Vin.

Hilton Hotel Gateshead
Bottle Bank, Gateshead, NE8 2AR
The Hilton Hotel is located in Gateshead overlooking the River Tyne adjacent to the famous Tyne Bridge.
Its commanding position offers it perfect views out over the river and Newcastle town centre.
As with other Hilton Hotels around the country and worldwide the Newcastle Gateshead offering has a high level of service from what were on our visit very attentive staff and some superb facilties for such a central location that is not situated in the full hussle and bussle of the City Centre including a fully functional gym and fitness facilities, an indoor pool with jacuzzi & sauna (fantastic!).
The only downside we could see from the Hilton Hotel Newcastle upon Tyne was 1) the price; at £120 minimum per night the Hilton is in the same price bracket as the Malmaison which we at Hotels Newcastle upon Tyne feel is more luxurious and definitely the one that appears to be more 'expensive' and 2) the business feel; primarily used as a hotel for business customers the Hilton Gateshead lacks a bit of the 'specialness' that you get when staying at a hotel specifically made for the guest's pleasure.
However, the facilities and restaurants at the hotel are superb so the Hotels Newcastle upon Tyne team would recommend looking at what you need from a Hotel in Newcastle; if its luxury and a different 5* feeling we would ensure you look at all the hotels in the region or if its a high quality hotel that offers the same quality standard throughout the group with excellent facilties for both fitness, dining and business conferencing, you would be hard pressed to find something to match the Hilton in such a central position in Newcastle's city centre.
Newcastle Marriott, Gosforth Park Hotel
High Gosforth Park, Gosforth, NE3 5HN
Located adjacent to the Gosforth Racecourse, Newcastle's Marriott offering or more commonly called the Gosforth Park Hotel is set in 12 acres. As leading 4* hotel, the Gosforth Park Hotel like The Townhouse Hotel is located in the suburb of Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.
In this quiet area the Marriott, is a contemporary four star offering located close to all amenities being only a short taxi ride away from the infamous Newcastle Clubs or for more corporate guests the Gosforth park is close to Newcastle City Airport and provides beautfully decorated bedrooms with high speed internet access.
All guest can also use the gym and spa facilities which includes a pool, jacuzzi and beauty salon or for the more sporty (Not the Hotels Newcastle upon Tyne Team!) there is are high-tech fitness machines, tennis court and squash courts.
We would recommend the Gosforth Park for anyone looking for a quiet North East retreat for business or pleasure.
We would also highlight the conference and wedding facilities on offer at the Gosforth Park, making a popular choice for locals looking for wedding venues in Newcastle.
